Free & Easy Ways To Take Screenshots on Your PC

In this quick guide, we'll show you multiple ways you can take screenshots on your PC.


Option 1: The Print Screen Button

All keyboards include a print screen button or commonly displayed as Prt Sc or Prt Scrn

  • Press the Prt Scrn button to capture your entire screen. If you are using multiple monitors, its contents will be captured also

  • Open a Word document or Email

  • Press Ctrl+V or right click Paste to put the captured screenshot into your document

 

Option 2: The Snipping Tool (Windows 7, 8, and 10)

If you are using Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10, you can use the built in screenshot tool for more ways of capturing your screen. The Snipping Tool gives you the ability to capture a region, set a delay before capturing, highlight, and draw on your image.


  • Press the Windows Start button, and start typing Snipping Tool in the search box. As you type, the application result will be displayed.

  • Open the Snipping Tool and click on New

  • Using your mouse, click and drag to select the region or Window you want to capture

  • Save the capture image as a file or Paste (Ctrl+V) it in a word document

 

Option 3: Snip & Sketch (Windows 10 Only)

Snip & Sketch was introduced in the October 2018 update of Windows 10 and is only available for Windows 10. Snip & Sketch is an improvement and a replacement for Snipping Tool.


If you've kept your Windows update to date, you will see this app in your start menu.


  • Press the Windows Start button, and start typing Snip and Sketch in the search box. As you type, the application result will be displayed.

  • Open the Snip & Sketch app and click on New

  • Using your mouse, click and drag to select the region or Window you want to capture

  • Save the capture image as a file or Paste (Ctrl+V) it in a word document
